The bus or minivan trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi takes approximately 3 hours. This is one of the most popular and frequent ways to get to the city on the River Kwai.
Scheduled minivans depart from two main bus stations in Bangkok:
- From the northern station Mor Chit Terminal (Mo Chit).
- From the southern terminal Sai Tai Mai (Sai Tai Mai).
Flights are especially frequent from Sai Tai Mai — every 20-30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The fare starts from 120 baht. It is not necessary to buy tickets in advance; you can arrive and take the nearest flight.
Important! Buses to Kanchanaburi no longer depart from the tourist bus station Victory Monument (Victory Monument).
Also, from the tourist area Khao San Road, tourist minivans depart twice a day (at 09:30 and 12:30). Tickets for them are sold at local agencies and hotels.
All buses arrive at the Kanchanaburi bus station, which is a couple of kilometers from the main tourist street. From there, you can get to the hotel by motorbike taxi for 50 baht or by local songthaew for 10 baht.
