VoWiFi not working abroad, what to do?

If VoWiFi is not working abroad, there may be several reasons. Here is an action algorithm for diagnosing and solving the problem:

1. Check the icon. Make sure that when connected to Wi-Fi, the VoWiFi icon appears on the phone's status bar (usually a handset icon with Wi-Fi waves or just a Wi-Fi icon next to the call icon). If it's not there, the call is going through the cellular network.
2. Restart the phone and reconnect to Wi-Fi. Sometimes a simple device reboot helps.
3. Check the settings. Go to Settings → Cellular → Wi-Fi Calling and make sure the switch is active. On some Android devices, this option may be hidden in the "Advanced" submenu.
4. Enable VoLTE. If there is a VoLTE (HD calling) option in the mobile network settings, enable it. For VoWiFi to work on some models, this is a mandatory condition.
5. Check the Wi-Fi network. Not all public networks support VoWiFi. Try connecting to another Wi-Fi network (in the hotel lobby, in a cafe) or create a hotspot from another phone that has a local SIM card with internet, and connect to it.
6. Enable airplane mode. The most reliable way to check is to turn on "Airplane Mode," then activate Wi-Fi and try to make a call. If the call does not go through in this mode, it means VoWiFi is not working specifically due to settings or network issues.
7. Contact your operator. If all previous steps did not help, the service may not be activated on your operator's side. Write to support through the mobile app (if you have internet) or use messengers/email. For example, in Megafon, we had to request activation through the chat in the app.
