Gasoline in Malaysia is high-quality and inexpensive: a liter of 95-octane costs about 2.5 Malaysian ringgit (MYR). A full tank for a scooter of 3-5 liters will cost you approximately 7.5–12.5 MYR, and this will last for 150–220 km of travel, which is very economical for exploring islands like Langkawi.
Refueling is simple, the process is similar to the Russian one:
- Drive up to any gas station. The networks are mostly well-known: Shell, Petronas, Petron.
- Go to the cashier. Tell the pump number (it's written on the stand) and the amount or number of liters. You can say "Full tank" or gesture.
- Pay. They accept cash and cards (but Russian UnionPay at gas stations, as a rule, does not work). It's better to have local currency with you.
- Refuel yourself. After payment, go to the pump and fill the tank.
On small islands, you sometimes come across "bottle" gas stations where gasoline is sold in plastic bottles, but this is more of an exception.
