Answer (changed )

Tipping in Thailand is not mandatory, but in the tourist sector, it is given, and it will be a good gesture. The system is not as pushy as, for example, in Egypt.

Approximate tip amounts (optional):

  • Porters, taxi drivers: round up the amount or give 5-10 baht.
  • Hotel maid: 10-20 baht per day, left in the room if you are satisfied with the cleaning.
  • Guides, tour bus drivers: 50-100 baht per person for the tour.
  • In restaurants: Often a service charge is already included in the bill. If not, you can leave 10% of the bill amount or just small change.

No one will demand tips from you or visibly get offended if you don't leave them. In this regard, the atmosphere is similar to Russia.
