To see the tombs in Hue comfortably and without rushing, it's worth allocating a whole day, or better yet — two days. It all depends on how many tombs you plan to visit and how deeply you want to immerse yourself in the history.

Here is an approximate time calculation:

  • To see one tomb (especially a large one like Tu Duc or Minh Mang) you should plan for 1 to 1.5 hours. This time is for a leisurely walk around the grounds, photos, and studying the details.
  • Travel between tombs takes additional time. They are scattered 7-20 km from the center and from each other. By motorbike or car, moving between two or three sites in the same area can take another 1-2 hours per day.
  • An ideal one-day route — visiting 2-3 tombs from the "big three" (Minh Mang, Tu Duc, Khai Dinh). Including travel and viewing, this will take 5-7 hours.
  • If you want to also see remote tombs, for example, Gia Long, or bought a combined ticket for 2 days, it's logical to split the viewing into two days. On the first day, visit the Citadel and 1-2 tombs, on the second — dedicate to the others.

Don't forget about the weather: in the dry season it can be very hot, so plan your visit for the morning or closer to the evening. In the rainy season, take an umbrella.
