How to get to the Old Quarter in Hanoi from the airport?

You can get from Hanoi Airport (Noi Bai) to the Old Quarter by public transport or taxi. The Old Quarter is located around Hoan Kiem Lake, and the journey from the airport takes from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

Here are the main options:

• City bus No. 17: This is the most budget-friendly way. The bus goes directly from the airport to a stop near the Old Quarter (Long Bien bus station). The fare is about 9,000 dong. The journey takes about 1.5 hours.
• Express bus No. 86: A more comfortable and faster option, specifically for tourists. It runs from the airport to Hanoi Railway Station, which is a 20-minute walk from the Old Quarter. The fare is about 40,000 dong, travel time is about an hour.
• Shuttle buses (shuttle bus): Private minivans that run between the airport and the city center. They can take you directly to your hotel in the Old Quarter. The price is negotiable, usually 50,000 - 100,000 dong.
• Taxi or Grab: The most convenient, but also the most expensive option. A taxi ride from the airport will cost about 300,000 - 350,000 dong. Using the Grab app (similar to Uber) can be a bit cheaper. Travel time is 45-60 minutes.

If you arrive by train, from Hanoi's main railway station you can walk to the Old Quarter in 20 minutes or take a taxi for 25,000 dong.
