How to buy a metro ticket in Hanoi?

You can buy a metro ticket in Hanoi in two ways: at an automatic terminal or at a live ticket counter at the station. The process is very simple, especially at the terminal with an English interface.

Purchase at the machine:

1. On the touch screen, select English language.
2. Choose the destination station and the number of tickets.
3. The screen will display the total cost.
4. Pay by inserting banknotes (accepted up to 50,000 dong). The machine will give change and plastic card tickets.

Purchase at the counter: This is even simpler. Approach the window, say or point on the map the name of the final station and say how many tickets you need. The cashier will name the amount, you pay and receive card tickets.

How to use the ticket: At the entrance to the turnstile, you need to tap the card on the reader. At the exit at the final station, do not tap the card, but insert it into the slot of the receiver—the machine will "swallow" it and open the turnstile.
