Which taxi app is best to use in Hanoi?

In Hanoi, the optimal app for ordering a taxi is considered to be Grab. It is the most popular, reliable, and offers a good price-quality ratio. Through Grab, you can order not only a car but also a motorbike taxi, food, goods, and even send a package.

In addition to Grab, other services operate in Vietnam:

• Maxim — the cheapest taxi, but requests may not be accepted for a long time. Not suitable for urgent trips (to the airport or train station).
• Xanh Sm (VinFast) — a modern taxi service using electric cars, but usually more expensive than Grab.
• InDrive — a service for ride-sharing where you can bargain about the price. It may be cheaper but requires more time, and there is no guarantee that the driver will accept the order.

The Grab app has an English interface, very similar to Uber. You specify the pickup and drop-off points, see a fixed price, receive information about the car and driver, and can communicate with them through the built-in chat. Payment is made in cash to the driver at the end of the trip strictly according to the price in the app. Russian bank cards do not work for online payment.

Registration in the apps is possible with a Russian SIM card. We advise installing Grab and possibly one backup app before the trip to avoid wasting time upon arrival.
