The trip from Cebu City to Kawasan Falls by public transport takes 3-4 hours one way. This is quite a long journey, so it's worth considering carefully whether it's worth going on your own just for the waterfall.
Here's what the route looks like:
- Bus from the South Bus Terminal (Cebu South Bus Terminal): You need to take a bus to Moalboal or directly to the village of Badian. Buses depart from 5 a.m. every 30 minutes. Travel time to Badian is about 3 hours. The fare is from 116 pesos.
- Walking: In Badian, you get off at Matutinao Church and walk about 1.5 km to the waterfall (another 20-25 minutes).
In total, just the one-way trip will take almost half a day. That's why tourists from Cebu City or Mactan Island most often visit Kawasan as part of organized tours, which usually include canyoning and transfer by comfortable minibus. This saves time and effort.
An alternative is to take a taxi or rent a car with a driver, but this will be significantly more expensive.
