Where is Osmeña Peak located and how to get there in the Philippines?

Osmeña Peak, also known as Mount Labalasan, is located in the southern part of Cebu Island, Philippines. It is the highest point on the island with an elevation of 1013 meters. The exact location can be seen on the map of Cebu Island.

You can reach the base of the trail leading to the summit in several ways:

• With a tour: This is the easiest option. Tours that include a visit to Osmeña Peak and Kawasan Falls are offered in Moalboal and Cebu City.
• By rented transport (bike or car): The recommended route from the resort of Moalboal goes through the town of Alegria. Along this same road, you can also visit Kawasan Falls, Montpiler, and Cambais. A navigator might suggest a shortcut through the village of Tigbao, but locals advise against using it due to very poor and dangerous road conditions.
• By public transport: You need to take a bus to the city of Dalaguete, and from there take a tricycle or motorbike taxi to the village of Mantalongon or directly to the checkpoint at the start of the trail. Direct buses to Mantalongon run very infrequently.

From the checkpoint, where the entrance fee is paid, a hiking trail of about 600 meters leads to the summit. The ascent will take 10-20 minutes. You can leave your vehicle in the parking lot at the entrance for a small tip (10-20 pesos).

For trekking enthusiasts, there is an interesting but challenging route from Kawasan Falls, spanning 14 km (5-6 hours of travel).
