The 60 visa-free days in Thailand are counted not as 60 days from the moment of arrival or two months, but specifically as 60 days, including the day of arrival and departure. For example, if you arrived on April 10, count 60 consecutive days on the calendar, considering April 10 as the first day.

An important point – the date is stamped when passing through passport control, not at the time of flight arrival or departure. This can allow you to gain an extra day. For example, if your flight landed on May 10 shortly before midnight, and you pass through passport control after midnight, the first day of stay will be counted as May 11. This same rule applies when departing.

For accurate day counting, it is recommended:

  • Mark the entry date and expected exit date in a calendar
  • Consider that the entry day counts as the first day of stay
  • Remember the possibility of extending for 30 days through the immigration bureau
  • Always have a buffer of a few days before the planned exit

When planning a long stay, it is better to arrange a tourist visa in advance to avoid issues with day counting and possible overstays.
