Is it worth choosing a tuk-tuk for traveling around Bangkok?

Tuk-tuks in Bangkok are mainly a tourist attraction, not practical transportation. They are significantly more expensive than taxis and other types of transport, and drivers often try to cheat tourists.
Main risks when traveling by tuk-tuk:
- Prices are inflated several times compared to taxis
- Drivers may offer "free" rides with mandatory visits to shops
- They may demand a larger amount than initially agreed upon
- Unsafe due to open construction and aggressive driving style
If you still want to ride a tuk-tuk for the experience:
- Always agree on the price in advance and write it down on paper
- Clarify that the price is for the entire trip, not per person
- Do not agree to "special offers" and "special prices"
- Avoid rides that include visits to shops and factories
For actual city travel, it is better to use metered taxis or public transport.
