What to see at the Temple of the Reclining Buddha in Bangkok besides the main statue?

At the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, there is much of interest besides the main statue: over a thousand other Buddha statues, beautiful chedis (stupas), a park with an artificial pond, and even a Thai massage school. The temple grounds are vast—over 80,000 square meters—and divided into two parts, but the northern part is open to tourists, where all the main attractions are concentrated.

Be sure to stroll around the grounds and visit the other temples in the complex. You will see 108 bronze bowls along the walls of the viharn with the Reclining Buddha—traditionally, visitors drop coins into them for luck and making wishes. Coins can be purchased at the entrance for 20 baht.

The temple is also considered a center of Thai medicine and massage. It houses the oldest massage school in Thailand, where you can take courses or simply get a massage session at affordable prices. On the temple walls, there are even images used for massage practice.

Don't miss the architectural details: beautiful pagodas, carved decorations, and a small park with a waterfall. If you have time, you can also visit the southern part of the grounds, where monks live, but there are fewer tourist attractions there.

Note that when visiting the temple, you must adhere to the dress code: no bare shoulders, shorts, or beach footwear. Also, be sure to remove your shoes before entering the temples.
