In which currency is it better to open a UnionPay card?

It is best to open two cards at once — in rubles and in yuan. This way you can use them flexibly depending on the situation, and it won't cost anything, as opening and maintaining cards is currently free. The card currency does not affect its functionality: if a terminal or ATM accepts UnionPay, then your card in any currency will work.
For paying for purchases, the yuan card is definitely more advantageous — it saves about 2% compared to the ruble card due to fewer conversions. But for withdrawing cash, it's more complicated: commissions and your individual conditions play a role here. If you don't want to delve into the details, the ruble card is simpler but less advantageous. We do not recommend dollar and euro cards — they lead to triple conversion and additional losses.
