Free Wi-Fi is available in most hotels, cafes, restaurants, and Colombo airport, but the quality is often low: the network may only be in common areas, and in guesthouses, routers are sometimes turned off at night, and it may work poorly in the room. Wired internet is rare, and the speed is unstable. If constant internet access is critical, it's better to rely on a local SIM card rather than hotel Wi-Fi. There are no city-wide free networks, like in Vietnam for example, yet, but the situation may change in the future.
