Which taxi is the cheapest in Vietnam?

In Vietnam, taxi apps like Grab, Maxim, Hanh Sm, and InDrive are widely used. It's better to install several of these apps before your trip, as prices and operating conditions vary. Here's a brief overview based on personal experience:

• Grab – the most common and reliable app, offering not only car bookings but also motorbike taxis, food delivery, an online store, and much more.
• Maxim – noticeably cheaper than Grab, but operates in very few places. From personal experience, orders are only reliably accepted in Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City; in other cities, even if it works, you might wait hours for an order to be accepted and a car to arrive.
• InDrive – this can be called a 'people's taxi' app, where private drivers can pick up passengers. Here, you can propose your own price for the trip and wait for someone to respond. Sometimes you can travel cheaper than with Grab, but other times, orders aren't accepted, and you have to raise the price even higher. Therefore, we don't recommend it for short trips.
• Hanh Sm – a modern eco-friendly taxi that is actively gaining market share. Hanh Sm is now available almost everywhere, with many cars. The app also includes motorbike taxis. They use branded electric cars or even Vietnamese-made VinFast electric bikes. Prices are slightly higher than Grab (but not always), but order acceptance and car dispatch are usually the fastest.
