Can I withdraw money from a Mir card on Phu Quoc?

Unfortunately, you cannot withdraw money from a Mir card on Phu Quoc. You also cannot pay with this card for purchases on Phu Quoc. The fact is that due to sanctions, Vietnamese banks do not work with Mir cards, except for one single bank, VRB. And only in ATMs of this bank and retail outlets with their terminal do Mir cards work. There are very few such retail outlets and ATMs, and they are completely absent on Phu Quoc.

If you are interested, there is an official list with addresses of retail outlets and ATMs on the VRB bank website where Mir cards work, it is posted here as a PDF file. But it is much easier to find ATMs on Google Maps by searching for VRB ATM VIETNAM, just look carefully, because the map mistakenly highlights some other ATMs.

And just in case: we tested the Mir card for cash withdrawal from our own experience, and got a very disappointing result. Unfortunately, the exchange rate on it turned out to be significantly worse than exchanging through cash dollars or euros.
