Kadikoy district and the Asian part, and how to get there

The Asian part of Istanbul is very different from the European. Here are mainly sleeping and working areas, the poor population lives. But this has its own special flavor, so curious tourists and travelers who have visited Istanbul for the first time prefer to settle on this side. If you are not one of these, then you should not consider the Asian part of Istanbul as a place to relax.

If you decide to stay in this part of the city, it is best to choose a hotel in the Kadikoy area (Kadikoy on the map). It is well developed, there are shops and clubs, tourist infrastructure. The historic tram T3 (ring) runs through the Moda quarter.

How to get to Kadikoy district:

• From Istanbul New Airport

  A taxi from the new airport to Kadikoy will cost from 180 lira (3.92 USD, see Turkish currency and exchange rate), 1 hour on the way. You will also have to pay a few lira in addition to the meter reading for driving over the bridge.

  But it is much cheaper to go on Havaist branded buses on the iST-7 route for 25 lire (0.54 USD). They run around the clock every 30-60 minutes, the journey is two hours, and here you can check the schedule - https://hava.ist/en/Voyage/VoyageTime.

  From the airport, they depart from the stop at the exit of the terminal across the street. Payment for travel with a single transport card Istanbul Kart or contactless bank card at the entrance to the bus in the cabin. Transport cards Istanbul Kart are sold and replenished here in special machines. The card costs 7 lira, payment in the machine is only in cash, all change is credited to the card account.

• From Sabiha Gokcen Airport (Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen)

  Taxi will cost from 140 liras (3.05 USD), 1 hour on the way.

  From Sabiha Gokcen there is a direct Company Bus Havabus for 14 lire (0.3 USD). Departs from the airport with a stop at the exit of the arrivals hall from 04:00 to 01:00 every 30 minutes. Payment in the cabin at the entrance in cash. The bus arrives at a stop near Kadikoy pier (Pier on the map).

• From Sultanahmet and Fatih district

  By ferry to Kadikoy pier, or by the Marmaray city train.
