Hurghada Airport is one of the most popular in Egypt with Russian and foreign airlines, flights here are carried out often and a lot. The geography of flights is large, there are flights from almost all regions of the Russian Federation, although they are not performed every day, and from some regions only seasonally. But from Moscow and St. Petersburg planes fly several times a day, and do not stop even in the low season in winter. There are no direct flights from Hurghada to another popular resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, and you will have to fly there with a transfer via Cairo or Luxor.

How to get to/from Hurghada Airport

If you are vacationing in Egypt on a ready-made tour, then upon arrival you will be met by Russian-speaking representatives of the tour operator and taken to the hotel reception. This is called a group tourist transfer. The meeting usually takes place even before passport control, where representatives with signs with the names of different tour operators distribute the arriving tourists in queues, check the documents and call the number of your bus, which you need to find in the parking lot when leaving the airport. You go through passport control, baggage collection and customs control on your own. Sometimes the rules change, and tourists are met and distributed on buses after receiving their luggage.

If you are traveling without a tour operator, then you will have to get to the hotel from the airport by taxi or book a personal tourist transfer, since public transport in Hurghada is very poorly developed and does not go to the airport at all. Theoretically, it is possible to walk to the hotel on foot, since the resort area begins already a kilometer from the exit of the arrival terminal, but you need to look where exactly the hotel you booked is located.

A taxi from the Uber and Careem apps will be much cheaper, starting from $ 3 to the city center, and $ 1 to the nearest tourist area. Just keep in mind that for the trip you will need to install the international Uber app, not Uber Russia.

For applications to work, you need mobile Internet on a smartphone, for which you can buy a local SIM card with an Internet package at the counters in the arrivals hall, depending on the operator and the package of services, it will cost from $ 10. There are rental counters in the arrivals hall, but it's better to take care of the rental in advance: find and book a car via the Internet, and approach the counter with ready-made armor, so it will be more reliable and cheaper. Airport structure and what tourists need to know

Hurghada airport is small and simple, the layout will not cause difficulties, because there are staff everywhere who will distribute the flow of tourists, and all the signs are duplicated in English and Russian. Recall that a separate "security corridor" has been created for departure by flights to the Russian Federation, where multiple checks of documents and your luggage will be carried out.

• After disembarking from the plane, you will first follow the corridor to the counters of the tour operator and get a visa. Here you will need to pay and get a visa on arrival, fill out a migration card and proceed to passport control in the same hall. Free Sinai stamp instead of a paid visa, as in Sharm el-Sheikh, is not put here. It takes a couple of minutes to fill out an immigration card, but you need a ballpoint pen, so don't forget to take it from home, there will be nowhere to take it.

  Unfortunately, there is a large-scale system of "divorcing" tourists for money: instead of $ 25 for a visa, they may require $ 27-30. This is justified by the fact that for $ 2-5 they give you an immigration card. But in fact, immigration cards are free, it's just that the staff collects them from all available places for tourists, where border control officers should put them. Most tourists automatically pay this additional divorce fee without resenting it. But if you do not want to contribute to their dishonest profit (just count how much they collect from one flight!!!), then you can first take an immigration card directly from the window of the passport control officer (border guard), and then go to the visa reception desk, where to submit a passport, $ 25 without change and demonstrate, that you already have an immigration card.

• With a completed migration card and visa, go to passport control.

• After passing through passport control, proceed to the arrivals hall and pick up your luggage from the tape there. If you stay in the queue for a long time at the previous stages, then the luggage can be removed from the tape and will be waiting for you in this hall.

• After receiving your luggage, you can visit the local Duty Free store, and in the next hall, just before going outside, you can buy a local SIM card at one of the counters, order a taxi transfer to the hotel, or get a reserved car for rent.

• From the arrivals hall, go outside and follow the parking lot directly, where I am waiting for tour operator buses and taxis.

• To get into the airport building, you will first have to go through the initial security control. Sometimes there can be long queues on it.
• When you get to the departure hall, immediately go to the check-in counters.
• After check-in and baggage check-in, go to the "clean zone" through passport control and security control, since there is nothing to do in the departure lounge, and there are no waiting places here.
• In the "clean zone" there is a departure lounge, a Duty Free store, several cafes, souvenir shops. The prices here for everything are quite high, so if you expect a long wait for the flight, we advise you to take something to eat with you, for example sandwiches from the hotel. Since water cannot be carried into this area, there is a drinking fountain.

Is there a Dutch free at Hurghada Airport

Yes, there are duty-free shops here, both on departure and on arrival. Duty-Free on arrival are located in the baggage claim hall after passport control. If you can't buy it on arrival, you can do it within 48 hours in one of the shops already at the resort. There are several such shops in Hurghada, and judging by the reviews, the prices there are lower than at the airport. To purchase, you will need the original passport, where the purchase will be marked.

The Duty-Free store is located in the boarding waiting area upon departure. You can buy alcohol and cigarettes, gold and jewelry, cosmetics and perfume, and even souvenirs in it, but simple cheap souvenirs like magnets and key chains are much more expensive here than in the city.
