Thailand is a country of contrasts: you can have lunch for 50 baht, or leave 5,000 baht for dinner with a sea view. Here are the real average prices if you don't want to overpay:

Average food prices in Thailand for a tourist (in baht, 2026)
What we orderOn the street / in a food courtIn a cafe for tourists
Pad Thai (portion)50–80 baht100–150 baht
Khao Pad (with meat)50–70 baht90–130 baht
Tom Kha Kai (soup)80–100 baht150–200 baht
Som Tam (salad)60–80 baht100–150 baht
Mango Sticky Rice50–80 baht100–150 baht
Freshly squeezed juice30–50 baht60–100 baht
Bottle of water 1.5 L (at 7/11)15 baht—
Beer (0.65 L, at a bar)—75–120 baht

How much money to take for food per day: if you eat on the street and in food courts, 300–500 baht per day per person is more than enough (breakfast, lunch, dinner plus fruit and drinks). If you prefer restaurants, the budget grows to 700–1,000 baht.

Keep in mind that in tourist areas and on menus with Russian language, prices are usually one and a half to two times higher than at street stalls where Thais themselves eat. For a detailed breakdown of prices and budgets, see our full guide to Thai cuisine.
