Should you bargain at Pattaya markets and how to do it correctly?

Yes, bargaining at Pattaya markets is not only possible, but necessary! Especially at tourist markets (Jomtien, Theprasit, Night Bazaar) — Thai and Indian sellers initially inflate prices by 2-3 times. Main rules:
- Start with a price 2-3 times lower than quoted and gradually settle at 20-30% of the starting price.
- Be friendly, smile — Thais appreciate a good mood and often give discounts for a smile. Aggressive haggling, like in Turkey, doesn't work here.
- If the seller doesn't give in, turn around and pretend to leave — in 90% of cases they will call you back and offer a discount.
- Don't bargain at supermarkets (Big C, 7-11), Lukdod and OTOP stores — they have fixed prices.
- Keep in mind that bargaining with Indian sellers is more difficult; they hold prices more firmly.
