In Abkhazia, there are several beautiful waterfalls that can be visited absolutely free. These include:

  • Shakuran Waterfall — one of the most interesting, with caves and a boxwood forest. Free, but for guide accompaniment on site they may ask for 500 rubles.
  • Maiden's Tears Waterfall — located right by the road to Lake Ritsa, before the entrance to the national park.
  • Gupsky Waterfall — an unusual waterfall where water flows down the rock, and there is a pool for swimming below. Located in the Ochamchira district.
  • Big Baryalsky (Macharsky) Waterfall — picturesque but little-known, requires a little effort to see it in all its glory.
  • Small Baryalsky Waterfall — small but cozy, visible right from the road, with a picnic area nearby.

Please note that some waterfalls, such as Gegsky, Molochny, or Ptichiy Klyuv, are located on the territory of the Ritsinsky National Park, and you need to pay an environmental fee (700 rubles per adult) to enter. For a full list and details, see our article Waterfalls of Abkhazia.
