Yes, definitely worth it! Linh Phuoc Pagoda is perhaps the most beautiful and unusual pagoda not only in Da Lat but in all of Vietnam. It is often called a 'temple Disneyland' due to the abundance of bright details and unique artifacts. Unlike historical temples, it was built in the 1950s, but its uniqueness lies elsewhere.
Here is what makes it a must-visit:
- Mosaic art: All buildings inside and out are decorated with mosaics made from pieces of glass, ceramics, and porcelain. The 49-meter dragon at the entrance is adorned with colored bottle glass β it looks stunning.
- Record-breaking objects: Here you will find the tallest bell tower in Vietnam, the tallest indoor Buddha statue, and a Bodhisattva statue made from 650,000 artificial flowers.
- Wishing bell: On the top floor of the bell tower hangs an 8-ton bell. Tourists write wishes on pieces of paper, stick them to the bell, and strike it with a wooden mallet β it is believed that wishes come true.
- Hell Hall: This is perhaps the most impressive part. Underground there is a 300-meter tunnel where, using plaster statues, sound and light effects, scenes of sinners' torments are shown. The spectacle is eerie but very memorable.
Entrance to the complex is free, which is also a big plus. We recommend reading our detailed guide to Da Lat so you don't miss other interesting places: Linh Phuoc Pagoda in Da Lat: honest review and practical information for visiting.
