A standard one-day excursion from Hurghada to Cairo is very busy, but unfortunately, rushed. In one day, you will manage to see the main attractions, but there will be no time for in-depth exploration. Usually, the program includes:

  1. Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx: This is the main goal of the trip. You will see the three great pyramids (Cheops, Khafre, Mykerinos), the queens' pyramids, and of course, the legendary Sphinx. Time for sightseeing is about 2 hours.
  2. National Museum of Egypt (Egyptian Museum): Here, treasures from Tutankhamun's tomb, sarcophagi, and statues are exhibited. You are given 1-1.5 hours to explore, but this is catastrophically little to see everything.
  3. Sightseeing tour of Cairo: Driving through the central streets and squares of the city.
  4. Papyrus and perfume "museums": These are essentially shops where you will be actively persuaded to buy something. Many tourists consider this a waste of time.

Also, for an additional fee (about 10 dollars), you can take a short boat ride on the Nile. If you want to see more and without rushing, it is better to plan a trip to Cairo for 2-3 days on your own.

We have detailed each stage of the excursion and given tips on how to spend your time usefully in the article: Cairo and Pyramids from Hurghada.
