An excellent walking route for a full day, which includes the Bird Park and other key attractions of central Kuala Lumpur:

  1. Start at Merdeka Square. You can walk from Chinatown or take the metro to Masjid Jamek station. Explore the square itself, the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Jamek Mosque, and Central Market.
  2. Transition to the Botanical Garden. From the square, walk along Jalan Parlimen (20-30 minutes) or take a taxi to the entrance of Perdana Botanical Gardens.
  3. Walk through the Botanical Garden and Bird Park. Stroll through the garden (free), visit the Orchid Garden, Deer Park, and then go to the KL Bird Park.
  4. Second half of the day. Exit from the other side of the park, visit the free Royal Malaysia Police Museum, then the National Mosque (Masjid Negara), and if you have energy left, the Islamic Arts Museum.
  5. Finish. End the route at Pasar Seni metro station, from where you can easily travel to any part of the city.

We have walked this route twice β€” it optimally covers historical and natural Kuala Lumpur. You should allocate a full day, comfortable shoes, and water.
