You can get to the Old Market (El Dahar Bazar) in the El Dahar district of Hurghada independently by taxi or local minibuses. This is a colorful place, more oriented towards locals, but tourists will also find a lot of interesting things there.

  • By taxi: This is the easiest and fastest way. Just tell the driver "El Dahar Bazar" or "Old Market". The trip from the central Sakala district will cost about 2 dollars.
  • By minibus (microbus): This is a budget option. Almost all city minibuses in Hurghada eventually pass through the El Dahar district. The fare starts from 5 Egyptian pounds. You need to catch a minibus on the street and ask the driver or passengers if it goes to El Dahar.

Organized tours to this market are usually not conducted. Be prepared that the market is very lively and chaotic, selling mainly everyday goods: food, cheap clothing, shoes, household items. Prices are often not marked, so bargaining is essential.
