Medicines in Egypt can be bought only in pharmacies, which are abundant both in tourist and regular areas of resort cities. For tourists, it is better to choose large, trusted pharmacies rather than small street stalls. Here are some tips for choosing:

  • Large chain pharmacies: They employ qualified pharmacists who can give competent advice and select an analogue. In small pharmacies, often just salespeople work.
  • Compliance with storage conditions: In large pharmacies, there are refrigerators and medicines are stored properly, not in the sun.
  • Fair prices: On all Egyptian-made medicines, the price is fixed and printed on the packaging. In reputable pharmacies, they do not erase or cover it, and the calculation is strictly according to it.

An excellent option for Russian-speaking tourists is the chain "Russian Pharmacy" (website: russkaya-apteka.com). The staff speaks Russian, prices are transparent, and you can also study the assortment and prices online in advance, and sometimes even order a free transfer to the pharmacy. This is our personal recommendation, not an advertisement.

It is best to pay in Egyptian pounds, as paying in dollars or euros will give you an unfavorable exchange rate. Always check the price on the box and ask for a receipt.

Pharmacy in one of the non-tourist areas of Hurghada, and even here everything is in Russian
