When is the best time to go to Samui?

The best time to visit Samui is from January to April. During these months, the island experiences dry and sunny weather, perfect for beach holidays. It is advisable to avoid the period from October to December, when Samui receives the highest amount of rainfall.

The weather on Samui, like on other islands in the Gulf of Siam, has its own cycle, different from Phuket or Pattaya. Here is what the weather calendar looks like by month:

• January-April (High season): Ideal weather. Minimal rain, plenty of sunshine, calm sea. This is the peak tourist season, so hotel prices are at their highest.
• May-September (Low season/Rainy season): Monsoon period. Rains occur more frequently, usually short and heavy, followed by sunshine again. The sea may be rough. Prices are significantly lower, with fewer tourists.
• October-December (Peak rainy season): The rainiest months, especially November. Prolonged downpours and cloudy weather are possible. This is the least recommended time to visit.

If your goal is a guaranteed sunny vacation, book a tour for the period from January to April. If you are willing to risk short-term rains for more favorable prices and fewer people, you can consider May or September.
