Do I need a visa to travel from Langkawi (Malaysia) to Koh Lipe (Thailand)?

For Russians, a visa is not required to enter Koh Lipe from Langkawi if you plan to stay in Thailand for less than 60 days. You will receive a visa-exempt stamp at passport control right on the Koh Lipe pier. However, there are several critical nuances you need to know:
- Visa on Arrival is NOT issued on Koh Lipe. If for some reason you require a visa on arrival (for example, you are a citizen of a country not on the visa-exempt list), then this route is not suitable for you. You will have to sail to the mainland (to Satun or Pak Bara) and apply for a visa there.
- Be sure to fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). Since 2025, paper immigration cards have been abolished. Fill out the form online on the official website immigration.go.th before the trip and save the confirmation (screenshot) on your phone. Internet may be poor on the pier.
- Don't forget about exiting Malaysia. Before boarding the ferry on Langkawi, you go through Malaysian passport control, where you receive an exit stamp. Make sure you have not exceeded the allowed visa-free stay period in Malaysia (for Russians, it is usually 90 days).
