Entry to Ban Ho village itself is free. However, to access the Muong Hoa Valley where it is located, you must pay a fee of 150,000 Vietnamese dong (approximately $6-7).
This fee is usually already included in the cost of organized trekking tours in the valley. If you travel independently by motorbike or car, the payment may be collected at the checkpoint when entering the valley.
In addition to this fee, additional expenses in the village depend on your plans:
- Accommodation: The cost per night in a local homestay starts from 300,000 - 500,000 dong ($12-20) per person.
- Food: Lunch or dinner at a village cafe will cost about 80,000 - 150,000 dong ($3-6).
- Transport: Renting a motorbike in Sapa for a day costs from 100,000 - 150,000 dong ($4-6).
Thus, the main mandatory payment is specifically the fee for entering the valley. Everything else is paid as desired. We advise having cash dong on hand, as there are no ATMs or cashless payment options in the village itself.
