Is air conditioning needed in a Hanoi hotel in winter?

Not always. Winter in northern Vietnam, including Hanoi, lasts approximately from November to February. During this time, nighttime temperatures can drop to +15Β°C, and daytime temperatures are usually +20-22Β°C. The weather is cool and often cloudy.
Therefore, if you are traveling to Hanoi during this period, you can save money by choosing a room without air conditioning. In many budget hotels, it is simply turned off or not used in winter. A fan or just an open window will be quite sufficient.
However, if you do not tolerate high humidity well or are planning a trip at the change of seasons (October, March), when it can already be hot, air conditioning will not be unnecessary. Always clarify this point when booking.
