Where can you get to by metro in Hanoi from the center?

Unfortunately, you can't get almost anywhere by metro from the center of Hanoi, and vice versa β you can't reach the center by metro. This is the main drawback of the current system for tourists. The existing two lines run far from the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, and other key points.
The only station that is somewhat useful for tourists is Cat Linh, the terminal on one of the lines. From there, you can walk (about 1.5 km) to the historical complex at Ba Dinh Square, where Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, and other government buildings are located.
Thus, the metro in its current form is not a transport for sightseeing, but rather urban transport for local residents of certain areas. For tourists, it is much more efficient to plan routes based on taxis, buses, or walking.
We have marked all stations on the interactive map. For more details on routes and network development prospects, read our article: Metro in Hanoi and how to use it.
