What is Grab Taxi and how to use it in Vietnam?

Grab is a super-app and the most popular taxi and other services ordering service in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. It is an analogue of Uber, which does not work here. With Grab, you can order a car, motorbike taxi (GrabBike), food, goods from a store, and even send a parcel.

How to use Grab Taxi in Hanoi:

1. Install the app: Download Grab from the App Store or Google Play. We advise doing this before the trip to avoid wasting time searching for Wi-Fi upon arrival.
2. Register: A Russian SIM card is suitable for registration. If it doesn't work the first time, try entering the country code +7 (Kazakhstan), and then your number. The app has an English interface.
3. Order a ride: Turn on GPS or manually specify the "From" (Pick-up) and "To" (Drop-off) points. The app will immediately show the fixed cost of the ride and options (car, motorbike, comfort class).
4. Confirm the order: After confirmation, you will see the driver's details (name, photo, car number, rating) and can track their movement on the map. You can communicate with the driver through the built-in chat.
5. Pay for the ride: By default, payment is made in cash to the driver at the end of the trip. The amount will exactly match what is shown in the app. Card payment (including Russian cards) is unavailable due to sanctions.
