Where to buy local alcohol in Ho Chi Minh City?

The only place in the center of Ho Chi Minh City with a decent selection of local alcohol is Ben Thanh Market. This is also where the famous snake whiskey is sold, and it might be the only place in Ho Chi Minh City where you can buy such an exotic gift.

Surprisingly, it's not so easy to buy local alcohol in the tourist area and its immediate surroundings. We checked all supermarkets, markets, and specialty stores - mostly foreign alcohol and local wine at relatively high prices are available everywhere.

But be prepared, prices at Ben Thanh Market are very inflated, so you must bargain. For example, a bottle with a snake can cost 600,000 dong! Vietnam produces excellent rum, whiskey, brandy, decent wine, and you can buy exotic rice vodka. There's no point in buying global or Russian alcohol brands here - you can get the same things at home or in duty-free.
