In addition to the main Bandaranaike Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka has other airports, but they are mainly local or do not handle regular international flights:

  • Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport in Hambantota — has international status, but since 2018, it only handles charter flights, for example, from Red Wings.
  • Ratmalana International Airport in Colombo — despite the name, it is not international and is used for domestic or private flights.
  • The other airports — small runways for light aircraft or helicopters, often shared with the military.

For tourists arriving in Sri Lanka, Bandaranaike Airport remains the main destination.
