Can you take homemade cognac or chacha out of Abkhazia?

If you follow customs regulations, you cannot. The issue is that after exporting from Abkhazia, you immediately import alcohol into the Russian Federation. According to Russian customs rules, importing homemade alcohol across the border is prohibited. You can only import alcohol in factory packaging with printed marks (labels and excise stamps) indicating that the product was manufactured and packaged at a factory or store. It doesn't matter whether you're flying by plane or crossing the border by train or car. Thus, strictly by law, it is not possible to bring homemade cognac, chacha, or other alcohol from Abkhazia to Russia.
As for quantities, you can import into the Russian Federation no more than 5 liters of any factory-made alcohol with an alcohol content above 0.5% per person, of which only 3 liters are duty-free. For alcohol exceeding 3 liters, you will have to pay a duty of 10 euros per liter. Only persons over 18 years old can transport alcohol, meaning you cannot 'assign' excess alcohol to a child.
As for this question in practice, as experienced tourists share in our chat about Abkhazia, customs officers often do not pay attention to such violations. However, we are not encouraging you to do anything, and you should understand that formally, when importing homemade wine across the border into the Russian Federation, you will be a violator, which can result in product confiscation and a fine starting from 2000 rubles.
