In Thailand, electronic cigarettes are subject to quite serious fines and penalties, including actual prison terms:

  • For import or sale – imprisonment for up to 10 years and/or a fine of up to 500,000 baht (approximately 1,500 US dollars).
  • For possession and use – up to 5 years imprisonment and a fine equal to five times the value of the discovered goods.
  • For use in public places – an administrative fine of up to 5,000 baht (approximately 150 US dollars).

In reality, fines are not always monitored very strictly, and many tourists in chats and reviews share and even encourage breaking the laws, since "I imported and smoked and nothing happened to me, so bring them, don't listen to anyone." But we still caution you against such actions, but the decision is, of course, yours.
