Did airlines really ban bringing fruits in a basket in hand luggage from Vietnam?

Despite the fact that some bloggers and so-called 'guides' on the internet have recently been publishing information that you cannot bring fruit baskets from Vietnam with certain airlines, in reality, carrying baskets in hand luggage on a plane is not prohibited. The problem is that many sources do not delve deeply into the essence of such 'bans' and present inaccurate or incomplete information on this matter, or perhaps they simply do not have reliable information. The point is that neither baskets nor fruits pose any danger for air travel, and accordingly they are not among prohibited items, and are allowed without issue for transportation by air, both in hand luggage and checked baggage. That is, in fact, there is no such ban on carrying fruit baskets in the rules of airlines and airports.
However, there is some truth to what bloggers and travelers say in their reviews. The fact is that some airlines, especially those working with tour operators and operating charter flights for package tours, allow or allowed an additional 'fruit basket' beyond the official hand luggage and checked baggage allowance, without having to pay extra. That is, it was a kind of 'bonus' allowed mainly on charter flights for Russian package tourists. However, in recent years some airlines have started to ban this additional basket, or allow it only for a fee, as a full additional piece of hand luggage. Hence, apparently, the myth was born that fruit baskets are banned from hand luggage.
So ultimately, it turns out: you can carry fruit baskets in hand luggage or checked baggage on a plane, and there is no ban on this, provided your basket meets the airline's standards and specifically according to your ticket. However, keep in mind that the rules for baggage and hand luggage in terms of weight, size, and number of pieces vary among different airlines, on different flights, and under different fare types, so you need to check before each specific flight in your itinerary receipt, on the airline's website, or with the tour operator. If you want to carry a basket in addition to your hand luggage and it is not allowed by the rules on that particular flight, you will have to pay for it.
Just in case, we also add that there is another misconception that fruits can only be carried on a plane in baskets. This is also false information, and there are no rules to that effect. That is, you can carry fruits in any container, suitcase, backpack, bag, sack, etc., as long as its weight and dimensions meet the size and weight allowances.
