Since October 1, 2017, amendments have been made to the law that regulates restrictions on travel abroad, including tourists, imposed for the presence of debts. This restriction is regulated by Article 67 of the federal law "About enforcement proceedings"of 02.10.2007 N 229-FZ, and amendments have been made to it.
So, if earlier a tourist at the border could be "deployed" for having a debt of 10,000 rubles, now it will be impossible to go abroad if there are debts of more than 30,000 rubles in total.
However, do not fall into euphoria from this news, because in fact these changes are more on paper than in practice. Firstly, the new threshold of 30,000 does not apply to debtors on alimony, compensation for damage to health, compensation for damage in connection with the death of the breadwinner, as well as recovery of property damage and moral damage as a result of a crime. This means that if you are a debtor for alimony, for example, then the ban for you is established already in the presence of a debt of 10,000 rubles.
And second, the bailiff can still lower the threshold bar for the limit to 10,000 for any debts if you don't repay them voluntarily within two months.
So despite this encouraging news, tourists-debtors should still take care of paying off debts in advance, and it is better to do this at least two weeks before the trip, since this is how long it takes for the restriction to be lifted and the information to be received by the relevant Border Services.
