Where is it cheaper to vacation in winter — Thailand or Vietnam?

It depends on what you compare. If you take a ready-made tour package, then due to fierce hotel competition, Thailand can sometimes turn out to be cheaper. But as soon as you step outside the reception area, the situation changes: life inside Vietnam is 20–30% cheaper.

Here is a clear difference in prices in local currency:

• Vietnam: a lunch of pho bo soup and a banh mi sandwich — about 60,000 dong. Beer in a store — 15,000 dong per can (cheaper than cola!), and draft bia hoi on the street — from 10,000 dong per glass.
• Thailand: prices in tourist areas have noticeably increased. A bottle of local beer in a supermarket — 50–60 baht, in a bar — from 100 baht. Lunch for two in an inexpensive cafe with drinks — about 400 baht.
