They stir up sand and fine sediment near the shore, turning the sea from azure to grayish-green. Heavy rainfall also adds turbidity, and visibility for snorkeling drops sharply. September and October are considered the "murkiest" – they are the peak of rains and storms.

If you want a high chance of experiencing Koh Larn with crystal-clear water, plan your trip for the dry season from November to February. In December-January, the sea is usually calm and transparent, like in advertising pictures. In March-May, the water also remains fairly clean, although short showers are possible.
