If you are going to Koh Larn for the first time, the best beach for a holiday can confidently be called Tawaen Beach. This is the largest, most convenient and well-equipped beach on the island, the ferry from Pattaya docks right at it, and you can swim even at low tide. The main downside is the crowds, especially on weekends and in high season.
When you want more tranquility, choose the neighboring Thonglang Beach 10–15 minutes' walk from Tawaen (Thonglang on the map) or the spacious Samae Beach, which stretches almost 700 meters along the western coast (Samae on the map). Both beaches are also well suited for swimming at any time, they have cafes, sun loungers and hotels on the first line.
Snorkeling enthusiasts should pay attention to the tiny Sangwan Beach: right by the shore, just 20–40 meters away, there are living corals, and this is one of the best places on Koh Larn for watching fish with a mask.
So which beach is ultimately the best?
In our opinion, Tawaen Beach is the optimal choice in terms of all parameters: swimmable at any time, developed infrastructure and easy accessibility. If you want it quieter – choose Thonglang or Samae. For snorkeling, the best is Sangwan.
But be careful with Nual and Tien beaches: at low tide it is almost impossible to swim there due to exposed rocks and corals. Ta Yai is beautiful, but a bit far from the piers, and Tham Beach is only suitable for beautiful photos by the grotto.
