Is it possible to export corals and shells from Egypt?

Exporting corals — both live and dead, as well as souvenirs made from them — from Egypt is strictly prohibited. There is a fine of $1000 for this. The only exception is corals purchased in a store with a receipt. As for shells, there is no official ban on their export, but in practice customs officers may find fault, especially if the shell looks unusual or is large. It is better not to take risks and not to collect them on the beach, but to buy souvenirs in stores.
