When preparing for a trip abroad, the most important thing is documents. Here is a basic list of what you must have with you:

  • International passport — the main document for traveling abroad. Be sure to make a copy and keep it separately.
  • Internal Russian passport — may be needed in some situations, for example, when checking into a hotel within the country or at the airport. A copy of it won't hurt either.
  • Electronic copies of all passports — send them to your email. If you lose the originals, you can access your mailbox and print copies.
  • Insurance policy — mandatory for many countries. Make sure it covers all risks, including COVID-19.
  • Airline tickets and hotel vouchers — print the itinerary receipts and booking vouchers. They may be asked for upon entry to the country and when checking into the hotel.
  • International driving permit (IDP) — if you plan to rent a car or motorcycle. Some countries accept Russian licenses, but an IDP is more reliable.
  • A memo with addresses and phone numbers of Russian embassies — in case of an emergency.

Important! Never put documents and money in checked baggage! Always keep them with you in your carry-on or waist bag.
