No, it is strictly forbidden to bring electronic cigarettes, vapes, e-liquids, and hookahs into Thailand, including Bangkok. Thailand has a strict ban on the import, sale, and use of these devices. Violations carry severe penalties: imprisonment for up to 10 years and/or a fine of up to 500,000 baht (approximately 1,500 USD).

Many tourists mistakenly believe that since vapes are popular in other Asian countries, they will have no problems in Thailand. This is not the case. Thai laws on this matter are very harsh, and the police regularly conduct raids, especially in tourist areas of Bangkok, Pattaya, and the islands. You can be fined or arrested not only for attempting to import but also for simply using or possessing an electronic cigarette.

Important: The ban applies to all types of electronic cigarettes: disposables, pod systems, vapes with liquid, and even devices that look like ordinary pens or flash drives. Do not try to bring them in your luggage or carry-on, hiding them among your belongings β€” customs officers at Bangkok airports (Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang) know what they look like and often use dogs to detect nicotine.

As for sales: it is impossible to officially buy electronic cigarettes in Bangkok or any other city in Thailand. There are no legal vape shops. However, they can be found illegally at some markets (e.g., around Khao San Road) or in closed social media groups. We strongly advise against this β€” purchasing or even possessing such a device carries the same legal risks as importing.

If you smoke, it is better to bring regular cigarettes for your trip to Thailand. According to customs rules, you can bring up to 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco duty-free per person over 20 years old. This is usually enough for a couple of weeks of vacation. You can buy regular cigarettes in Thailand at any 7-Eleven or supermarket.
