Immediately after you pass passport control and customs in the arrivals hall on the first floor of Suvarnabhumi Airport, you will see branded counters of the three main Thai operators: AIS, Dtac and TrueMove. There may also be touts offering SIM cards "from hand". Both places sell ready-made tourist SIM cards with a prepaid package of internet and minutes. This is the fastest way to stay connected right after landing: the seller will insert the SIM and activate the tariff, and the internet will work within a couple of minutes.

Important point: Regular cheap Prepaid SIM cards used by locals are not sold at the airport β€” neither at the counters nor at 7-Eleven. They can only be bought in the city.

What tariffs are offered at the airport

The assortment from all operators is roughly the same. Here are the most popular options for short trips:

Tourist SIM cards at Suvarnabhumi Airport
Operator and tariff Validity Internet Calls Price (baht)
dtac Happy 8 Days 8 days Unlimited 5G + unlimited Wi-Fi Unlimited calls within Thailand 499
dtac Happy 15 Days 15 days Unlimited 5G + unlimited Wi-Fi Unlimited calls within Thailand 699
AIS 8 Days Plan 8 days Unlimited 5G + unlimited Wi-Fi Unlimited to AIS + 100 baht to other networks 499
AIS 15 Days Plan 15 days Unlimited 5G + unlimited Wi-Fi Unlimited to AIS + 100 baht to other networks 699

Our advice: Don't chase gigabytes. Hotels and resorts have excellent free Wi-Fi, and tariffs already include unlimited access to public hotspots. Choose the cheapest package that suits your trip duration.

Alternative: eSIM

eSIMs are also sold at the airport counters. But many travelers prefer to buy it online before departure β€” it's more convenient: no need to queue, and the internet turns on automatically after landing. Russian cards are accepted, for example, on Trip.com. Note that tourist eSIMs often provide only internet without a local number. If you need a number for calls, choose eSIM from local operators (AIS, Dtac).

A proven method is to buy an eSIM or physical SIM card on Trip.com. Payment with Russian cards, Russian interface, prices from 60 rubles. When booking a hotel or tickets, eSIM is often given for 1 ruble.

How to save money if you don't want to buy at the airport

If you are planning a long trip and are willing to spend a little time, it is better to go to the city and buy a regular Prepaid SIM card at 7-Eleven, Family Mart, or a mobile phone shop. Prices there start from 49 baht. Detailed instructions and comparison of all tariffs are in our article about buying a Prepaid SIM card in Thailand.
