How to get to Lake Ritsa by bus from Gagra or Sukhum?

Unfortunately, you cannot get to Lake Ritsa by scheduled bus. Public transport does not go there. The only way to reach this main attraction of Abkhazia without a private car is by excursion bus, taxi, or rented car.

Here are all the real options for getting to Lake Ritsa in 2026:

• Group excursion by bus. This is the most popular and affordable option. Excursion buses depart from any resort in Abkhazia (Gagra, Pitsunda, Sukhum, New Athos) and even from Sochi. The cost starts from 1300 rubles per person plus an entrance ticket to the national park (700 rubles for adults). The downside of such tours is many stops at apiaries and markets, leaving little time for the attractions themselves. We recommend looking for small group jeep excursions — they are more interesting.
• Taxi. You can arrange with a private driver to take you, wait on site, and bring you back. Essentially, this is an individual excursion for your family. The cost from Gagra is from 6000 to 10,000 rubles for a round trip with waiting. You can also use local taxi services, such as A-Taxi or Garuda (one-way trip from Gagra — from 2800 rubles).
• By your own car. The road from Gagra to the lake (about 60 km) takes 1.5–2 hours. The asphalt is good, but there are many serpentines. Parking near the lake is paid — 200 rubles for the whole day. You need to leave the car in a special parking lot 600 meters from the embankment, as there are prohibitory signs near the water and traffic police are on duty.
