Yes, on the way to Lake Ritsa and right next to it you will encounter several picturesque waterfalls. This is one of the main highlights of the route, and many tourists come specifically to see them. Here is a list of what you can see:

Waterfalls along the road to Lake Ritsa:

  • "Maiden's Tears" Waterfall — located right by the road, not high but very beautiful. A romantic legend is associated with it, and it is one of the first stops along the way.
  • "Man's Tears" Waterfall — located near "Maiden's Tears", but looks more powerful and severe. Excursions usually stop at both waterfalls.
  • Gegsky Waterfall — one of the most famous and highest waterfalls in Abkhazia. You need to take a separate jeep ride on a dirt road to get there, so it is not always included in standard excursions, but it is often included in individual tours.

Waterfalls near Lake Ritsa (you can walk or drive to them):

  • "Bird's Beak" Waterfall — located a few minutes' walk from the embankment. Its stream really resembles a bird's beak, and it is very photogenic.
  • "Milk" Waterfall — located a bit further, the water has a whitish hue due to the rocks, hence the name. The path to it goes through the forest, but it is easy.

Please note: if you are on a group excursion, you will most likely be stopped at "Maiden's Tears" and "Man's Tears", but you will have to walk to "Bird's Beak" and "Milk" on your own when free time is given at the lake. The Gegsky Waterfall usually requires a separate trip.

All these waterfalls are located along the only road leading to the lake, so it is hard to miss them. If you are traveling by car, you can stop at each one as long as you like. And if you are planning an excursion, it is better to choose options that include a visit to the Gegsky Waterfall — it is truly impressive.
