It is quite possible to visit Lake Ritsa inexpensively if you know in advance what you can save on. The most budget-friendly option is to go by your own car or as part of a group excursion, but be smart about additional expenses.

Here are the main expense items and ways to save:

Main tip: bring snacks and water with you. Prices at cafes on the lake are steep (hot meals from 500–700 rubles, shashlik from 400–600 rubles per serving), and there are no full-fledged canteens. Sandwiches and a thermos of tea will save you 1000–1500 rubles per family.

1. Entrance to the national park (mandatory expense)

In 2026, entrance to the Ritsa National Park costs 700 rubles for adults, 200 rubles for children 8–12 years old, children under 8 are free. This is a fixed price, you cannot save on it, but remember that it is already included in the cost of many excursions.

2. Transport: the cheapest way

  • Group excursion from 1300 rubles per person — this is the cheapest option if you don't have your own car. This price includes transfer, guide services, and stops at main attractions along the way (Blue Lake, waterfalls, Yupshar Gorge). The downside is that you will definitely be taken to a bee farm and a "honey yard" where prices are inflated. Just don't buy anything there.
  • By your own car — you only pay for gas (about 1000–1500 rubles round trip from Gagra) and parking (200 rubles for the whole day). This is profitable for a company of 3–4 people.
  • Taxi — from 6000 to 10,000 rubles per trip with waiting. This is expensive, but if split among a group, it can be comparable to an excursion.

3. What you DON'T need to spend money on

  • Catamarans — from 500 rubles per person for 30 minutes. Expensive and short. Better just walk along the promenade and take beautiful photos.
  • Souvenirs and honey — at the lake and along the way, prices are 1.5–2 times higher than in Gagra or Pitsunda. The same things can be bought cheaper at city markets.
  • Tastings and "free" samples — you will be taken to places where after tasting wine or honey, there will be pushy sales. Politely refuse.

4. When to go to save money

The best time for a budget trip is May, June, or September. During peak season (July–August), excursions become more expensive, and parking lots and the lake are crowded. In spring and autumn, there are fewer tourists, and you can even bargain for an excursion on the spot.
