Lake Ritsa is located in Abkhazia, on the territory of Ritsa National Park. It is not located in any specific city, but is in a mountainous area, approximately 60 kilometers from the city of Gagra (see on the map). The drive from Gagra to the lake takes about 1.5–2 hours due to the winding road.
The nearest major settlements from which tourists most often come are Gagra, Pitsunda, and New Athos. The lake itself is located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level, surrounded by picturesque mountains and forests.
Lake Ritsa is the main natural attraction of Abkhazia, which is definitely worth visiting during a trip to this country. You can get here by car, taxi, or as part of an excursion, but public transport does not go here.
If you are planning a trip, keep in mind that entry to the national park is paid: 700 rubles for adults, children from 8 to 12 years old — 200 rubles, children under 8 years old — free. The best time to visit is from May to October, when the weather is most comfortable.
